one and a half is a direction-led animation studio based in Cyprus, working across documentary, cultural and public communication projects. The studio collaborates with filmmakers, production companies and institutions to develop and produce animation as part of a broader narrative structure. This includes animated sequences within documentary films, visual storytelling for cultural and historical projects, and communication work for public and research-based initiatives. Each production is developed to align with the project’s narrative, context and audience, ensuring clarity in both storytelling and execution. The studio operates with a flexible production model, assembling project-based teams while maintaining consistency in direction and delivery. Depending on the needs of each production, the studio can operate both as a directing partner and as a production partner, supporting established visual frameworks with focused animation development and delivery. The studio is led by Yiannis Philiastides, an animation director and producer working across film, cultural and institutional contexts.
